Atlanta-based beer company makes bet with Sam Adams over Super Bowl LI

Atlanta vs. Boston – Super Beer LI

The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI, but a couple of beer companies got in on the action with some pretty significant stakes of their own.

SweetWater, an Atlanta-based beer company, reached out to Boston’s Sam Adams brewing company, one of the most recognizable names in the business, with an idea for an entertaining bet based on the outcome of the big game.

Of course, things started out innocently enough, as you’re about to find out.

.@SamuelAdamsBeer alright the cutoff sweatshirt is comin off. When we win you gotta ship us a brewer to be our intern for the day.

.@Sweetwaterbrew Sounds like you need employee to help with production…Let’s up the ante – loser wears winning team’s colors?

Then things got interesting.

.@SamuelAdamsBeer Let’s the stakes and force the loser to rename a beer after the winners team. Dirty Bird Lager has a nice ring

Personally, this scribe likes the sound of Dirty Bird Lager over New England Patriots Extra Pale Ale. But that’s just one man’s opinion.

Whoever comes out on top in this bet, both deserve some props for their playful banter and for taking advantage of a huge platform to help promote their businesses.

But let’s hope things don’t get too frothy when the loser has to pay up.
